Academic Planner

As a homeschool mom, I was thrilled to be offered the chance to review this academic planner!
If you saw my desk you would know how unorganized I can be! This was a huge blessing to me and an encouragement to start being more aware of controlling the chaos.

I love how the planner is set up. There is a place to write in your subjects for the semester and then each week  has a page to write in the work for the week. There is a section also at the bottom where you can write in after school activities, extra classes or whatever notes you need. Here is our planner. Obviously this week is empty due to Thanksgiving week. We plan to write in what actually gets accomplished…if anything.  Normally the page is full of instruction and activity.

What I especially enjoy is how easy it is for the student to follow and  use independently. For example, what I do at the beginning of the week is write in what needs to be done on each day. There is a small square in each of the larger squares where the student can check it off when it's done. This allows the student to work on their own, and allows mom not to have to keep asking if the work is getting done. It's working great for us!

Ageless Derma foundation review

I received the Iced Coffee color of the Loose Mineral Foundation from Ageless Derma. The packaging was nicely done. It arrived safe and in great condition.

I enjoyed being able to try out a new product. I've always used the same thing and was excited about a new brand. I was not disappointed. The color was a nice shade of tan which seemed to coordinate well with my skin tone.

What I enjoyed was the light feel to it. It felt like I didn't have any foundation on at all. ageless derma allows your skin the ability to breath while helping to make your face feel and look wonderful. The foundation appeared as a natural blend, which was something I felt had been missing in my previous foundations.

I think the only thing I wish was different is for the foundation to automatically come with a sponge for application. I had to use my own which already had been used prior to this color foundation. It will not keep me from using the product however. I am impressed with the brand and will continue to use the products in the future.

Jades Menagerie Review and Giveaway!

What a fun gift set this is. I was thrilled to be able to include Passport Covers and More in my Holiday Gift Guide! They have some wonderfully unique items on their website you will want to check out. I was able to pick out my favorite gift set theme to review. Living in Florida, I had to go with the flip flop design. I live in flip flops and thought it would make a fun set. The gift set comes with the 3 items seen in the picture. The largest one is a website and password book. (there is a choice of address book according to website)You are able to keep track of all your valuable information in one location. This makes it easy to remember. Honestly, I'm  not sure I'd feel comfortable writing all my passwords down for websites such as bank information. As a homeschool mom though there are many sites I will visit and sign up for products, information, etc where it would be great to have an easy to find location for all my passwords. I have usually been really bad about just writing them on papers on my desk..I am thrilled to now have a place where I know I can find them.
There are also covers for a checkbook and  business cards or credit cards. The set came wrapped in tissue paper which gave a step up look to them. Each set is handmade and one of a kind. They have layers to them which makes them special. I love the look to them and how unique they are. No more boring holders, now you can have something which will spark interest whenever  you take them out!

These would make great Christmas gifts also for a friend or family member. How special to share with them a useful gift with a personalized look. You have a chance now for your chance to win this set in the giveaway below!

Caring Cross

What a blessing to be a part of sharing the story of the Caring Cross with all my readers. The Caring Crosses are carved from a unique grained olive wood from olive trees in Bethlehem. Christians originally made these for pilgrims and then tourists visiting the Holy Land. Buying these crosses helps to support the craftsmen working on them. They receive a good price which supports their family and the Christian community of Bethlehem.

Here are some pictures showing the work and creativity in the design of the crosses. You can see the amazing detailed work that is put into each individual cross.

The cross is beautiful. It is very smooth to the touch and fits perfectly in your hand. The cross would be a wonderful gift for someone for anything from needing comfort through illness, graduations,Christmas, baptism, or really anything. I can't wait to share one with a family member for Christmas.

You can also buy these individual crosses for a fundraiser for a church or youth program. What a great and unique way to get the message of Christ out to the world.

You can find the crosses on amazon, ebay, or http://mycaringcross.com/

Little Pim Foreign Language Program Review and Giveaway!

As part of my Holiday Gift Guide, I was given the opportunity to review the Little Pim program. This is a great foreign language program geared toward children up to age 5.  There are many different languages to choose from. The program I chose to review was French. Through the program you have the chance to learn 180 basic words and phrases related to real life situations for children.
The Discovery Set comes with 3 videos (playtime, wake up smiling, and eating/drinking). You also get a plush panda and a poster where it shows how to say Hello in a variety of languages.
The videos are set up in 7 episodes broken down into 5 min intervals. This is great because it works with the knowledge that at the younger ages, attention isn't as long as older children.  The videos are full of color which is the first draw into the video. They use not only a cartoon look, but add in real children showing and using the exact things talked about. Kids love to see other kids doing something, and it makes them want to join in. By allowing them to watch kids their own age while hearing the language, they are able to create a relationship with the language and scene.
For example, on the eating and drinking video, it will show the word for apple. They repeat the word in French and English, while looking at the apple, then the child on the video eats the apple. It definitely made me want an apple, it also clarifies the word to the object which is very important when learning a new language.
From the different programs I've seen, I feel Little Pim is high on my list of recommended programs.
A wonderful program for your young child, but works great for any age wanting a clear and easy way to learn a new language! The Spanish, French and Chinese programs also available at your local Toys R Us stores!
***For being a special reader of Lost Island of Book Reviews, right now, you can receive 20% off all products bought off of the Little Pim website with this code: LPHOLIDAY.

Now it's your turn for a chance to win a 3 pac of the language program of your choice!

CasePics I Phone cases

CasePics is a family run business offering new and creative ways to dress up your IPhone case.  By allowing you to choose the picture you want on your case, it gives not only individuals a way to show off a hobby or their family, but also businesses a way to advertise.  When ordering your case, their website is easy to follow and works great. There are no hard steps to figure out. It's easy to manage.   Each phone image is put onto a white metal plate with high quality heat transfer inks. The picture appears in a very clear and shiny picture. I was amazed how well it looked. From what I experienced, the customer service is courteous and friendly. The product arrived in a quick manner and in good condition. The only thing I would say is I wish it had come with more padding. I would hate to think there was any chance of scratching the picture.

My son is the one who has the IPhone, and he is thrilled with it. He picked the picture for his phone. He loves the Rockin Rollercoaster at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios. He thought it would be a great way to show his favorite ride to everyone. He said that it was tight getting it on to his phone, but after it's on the tight fit is perfect. He said it was great because unlike some cases, all the buttons on the phone are accessible with no plastic covering them with "fake"buttons.

I am very happy with www.CasePics.com and will definitely use them in the future for any new cases we might get. The company works will all IPhone Cases 5/4S/4, IPad 2 and 3 mini cases, and Samsung galaxy S3 cases.

Ma Mi Skin Care Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 Giveaway!
Read the full review by Rebecca at Love2EncourageYou.     943102_566471283375310_687192095_n       The Ma Mi Skin Care Sunny Days Mineral Sunscreen with SPF 30 got the ultimate test in my opinion. It did a great job protecting our skin while we took the family out in the Florida sunshine and 85 degree weather at SeaWorld in Orlando, FL. We were walking all over the park, riding rides and sitting in the stands in the sun most of the time watching the various shows with the dolphins and whales. It was nice not having to worry about getting sunburned knowing this product does such a great job with coverage.   Medieval Times May 2013 113   I tried the product on my arms, face and neck, and my mother tried it on as well in the same areas. We both forgot about reapplying half way through the day as we were having too much fun with the kids, but by the time I remembered it had been several hours and we still ended up staying protected. I did not get sunburned and neither did she. We like the way the sunscreen has a soft, refreshing scent to it. The color is pleasing in a light tint of pink. The product application seems to go on thick like a paste or thicker formula sunscreen, but I think that is why it kept our skin protected. It still rubs into the skin just fine and apparently does a great job with blocking the suns rays.
